MIND GAMES: TURF BATTLE
Hey Fam,
Sometimes the greatest battle we will fight is in our mind. What do I mean? Have you ever found yourself consumed by thoughts which then begin to have a major impact on your emotions, how you interact with others, how you perceive situations and/or how you navigate your day? As a former school counselor, I saw firsthand students battle within their minds sometimes to the point where they would completely shut down or operate from what some people perceived as just a total disregard for life. What do you do when the negative noise and distractions are louder than the healthy thoughts? What do you do when you feel like you lack the tools to combat the negative? What good is going to battle without being equipped with the right weapons or tools? There is a war over our minds because the enemy fights hard to gain access over that territory. This is why it’s important for us to renew our minds daily. Ephesians 4:23 AMPC says: “And be constantly renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh mental and spiritual attitude].”
The Oxford dictionary defines mind games as “a series of deliberate actions or responses planned for psychological effect on another, typically for amusement or competitive advantage.” The manipulative tactics, Mind Games, that the enemy launches causes us not to have clear vision, causes us to come into agreement with a lie and causes us to abort our purpose. Come out of agreement with every lie the enemy has spoken over you.
