LOOK aGAIN!
Hey Fam,
It’s been a minute! Let’s take a look at a page we all may experience at some point in life, FAILURE. Have you ever found yourself revisiting a chapter in your life where you felt like you failed? Maybe you are currently at that chapter in your life right now and asking yourself, “how did I end up here?”
You may be asking…
How did my marriage end up here?
How did my finances end up here?
How did my business end up here?
How did my ministry end up here?
How did my children end up here?
How did my health end up here?
How did my community end up here?
How did my friendships end up here?
How did my family end up here?
How did my career end up here?
How did my life end up here?
It’s so easy to become stuck obsessing over the failure or the loss that you miss out on the gain. FAILURE LOOKS DIFFERENT WHEN YOU LOOK AGAIN. Sometimes what we perceive as “failure” is in fact just “transition.” When we settle our emotions and look again, we can see that some of our failures were actually “A Gain.”
We learn from our failures!
We learn valuable lessons
We learn to trust again
We learn how to navigate rough waters
We learn accountability and responsibility
We learn how to pivot
We learn wisdom
I encourage you to look at your failures again and ask yourself, “What have I gained?” Take what you have gained, and use that as you are processed through your transition from failure to success.
Yall remember Simba from The Lion King right? He experienced what felt like failure, but when he looked again he had actually gained so much during his transition to king. He gained new friendships, humility, a new perspective, wisdom, confidence, preparation, survival skills, realignment, instructions, support, healing, identity and so much more. Even when we look at King David in the Bible who experienced many failures, we see that he gained so much throughout his transition to king just as we see with the fictional character Simba. You know what stands out to me though? Even during the times of failure and transition, both SIIMBA and David gained a song! Simba was surrounded by friends who helped him find a song in his wilderness experience. David maintained a posture of praise and worship even during the toughest of times. He experienced failures even after becoming a king, but he still had a posture of praise and worship.
What song will you sing during your times of transition? The next time you find yourself rehearsing your failures in your mind, look aGAIN. What have you gained? It’s not failure, it’s transition.
Talk to you soon,
Ky
